There’s something goofy about the perpetrators in this story. It’s as though they couldn’t create an islamic extremist group because that would be insensitive and discriminatory. Instead they make homeschoolers in general into terrorists:

“The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke.”

So, because it’s not safe to talk about islamist extremist factions due to some horrible injustices being done to the “religion of peace,” we’ll pick on our own countrymen (and women) who choose to educate their children at home. Yeah… That makes sense. I for one am offended. I’m not the only one, based on the reactions in the blogosphere. This is just plain stupidity. I honestly hope that the people “sensitive” enough to craft this exercise learn something from this. It’s likely to haunt them if folks don’t let them live it down.
